Ability to develop rapport with diverse patients with mental and/or substance use disorders. Ability to assess patients with DSM-V disorders, with skill and prior experience in assessing risk, applying the multi-axial diagnostic classification accurately, and making triage and associated treatment planning decisions and recommendations. Ability to develop individualized treatment plans taking into account patient needs and available clinical services, using a full range of appropriate treatment modalities (such as crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, couple and family therapy, supportive therapy, intermittent therapy, and/or behavioral therapy (such as DBT or CBT). Ability to provide clinical care to patients commonly seen in primary care and specialty mental health settings (including core disorders, such as patients with mood or anxiety disorders; patients with severe and persistent mental disorders; patients with personality and/or addictive disorders; and patients with post-traumatic stress disorder).
Knowledge, skill and experience in at least two core areas of psychosocial treatment (e.g. cognitive-behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, short-term therapy, problem-oriented therapy, group therapy, interpersonal therapy for depression, couples and family therapy, internal family systems therapy, or other evidence-based approaches), with a demonstrated commitment to continuing personal professional growth. Skill and experience in working as a productive and collegial member of multi-disciplinary mental health teams and in collaborating with other health care providers (e.g. primary care and medical specialists). Skill and experience in managing time, maintaining schedules, and in completing documentation and other work assignments on time. Ability to manage a mixed cohort of new and continuing patients to promote rapid access to care, with particular skill in orienting patients, setting goals for treatment, addreIndependent licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or as a Psychologist in the state of MA. Minimum of three to five years post masters degree; preference for prior crisis or emergency room care, or prior partial hospital program experience; strong preference for Trauma and/or Substance Use expertise.
