Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results as appropriate to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for reimbursement, internal and external reporting, research and regulatory compliance. Accurately code inpatient and outpatient conditions and procedures as documented in the ICD-10-CM and the American Hospital Association (CPT-4) Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
Education/Training: Prefer a graduate of an approved Health Information Technology program (HIT) or Health Information Administration Program (HIA). Will consider those who have successfully passed an AHIMA approved coding certificate program. Certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CCA through AHIMA or CPC through AAPC, ICD 10 Certification is highly preferred Work Experience: 5 years experience working as an inpatient and coder with CPT coding at an acute care facility.
