  • The Manager of Benefits will be responsible for developing and managing the benefits programs, to ensure that they are efficiently administered, competitive, cost effective, well communicated, and reflective of the philosophy and strategic direction of the Cambridge Health Alliance. This role will also serve as part of HR Leadership team in building and maintaining a highly customer focused support organization.

    Duties and Responsibilities include: Recommend, develop, and manage the benefits and work-life programs for Cambridge Health Alliance employees. Manage the administration of all benefits plans to ensure operations within established parameters and regulatory compliance. Evaluate trends in benefits coverage and work life opportunities to assess organizational position and maintain competitiveness. Review and propose health insurance options to ensure maximum service and value for enrollees. Interpret and communicate employee benefits policies and work/life options and manage their implementation. Track and analyze current and developing legislation and regulations affecting benefits to determine impact on CHA and assist in developing responses to changes. Ensure plan expectations are met through periodic monitoring of performance measures and coordination of periodic performance meetings. Effectively manage the annual Open Enrollment Process. Prepare monthly reporting of key performance indicators relating to benefits plans and effectively communicate results and recommendations to senior management. Oversee the benefits orientation for new employees in support of a smooth transition process. Coordinate with other HR units and Payroll Department to maintain correct benefits accruals and payroll deductions Initiate and maintain positive relationships with vendors to ensure engagement. Supervises a staff of four.

    Qualifications: 

    The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience plus 10-15 years of proven success experience in benefits administration. Prior healthcare and union experience preferred. PHR/SPHR and benefits certifications a plus. Demonstrated ability to administer multiple complex benefits plans, preferably for private and public sector employees. Understanding and ability to apply government regulations related to benefit plans (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ADA, and FMLA). Strong business acumen and excellent quantitative skills. Demonstrated skills in building and leading teams toward LEAN or other continuous improvement strategies. Effective communication skills and the ability to influence results and drive direction of benefits and work-life efforts. Strong program and vendor management experience. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Outstanding analytical skills and HRIS experience. Ability to understand and manage the complexities of multiple locations, payroll systems, benefits structures within one organization. Proactive self starter who is creative, is an excellent problem solver and has strong attention to detail. Strong customer service orientation. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience with HRIS systems; Meditech experience highly desirable.
