  • Job Purpose/Duties: Must be able to work in a complex environment and demonstrate competency is all electronic systems in use. This position has primary responsibility to the OB service within ECHC as well as responsibilities with Primary Care.  

    Clinical Responsibilities: Manage patient flow through the clinic: Pre-visit chart medical record preparation and information gathering to optimize the visit. Participate in team meetings. Room patients. Assist providers with medical histories and clinical procedures as well as ability to assist w/sterile technique.   Document appropriate documentation in the electronic health record. Check routine vital signs and point of care testing (based on OB/GYN protocols) Perform screening questionnaires and pain score, as needed. Communicate with patients to set expectations, e.g., wait times, what to expect during visit.  Provide clear and timely observations to providers regarding patient issues. Manage room cleaning, stocking, set-up, and turnover.  Participate in process improvement initiatives and staff meetings. Participate in continuing education sessions. Assist co-workers in their duties within the limitations of training and scope of practice. Manage all electronic documentation requirements. Track completion of certain patient tests. Other duties as required. 

    Administrative Responsibilities: Greet patients, answer the telephone taking accurate detailed electronic messages. Schedule patient appointments, according to guidelines. Complete daily insurance verification. Complete patient appointment  and registrations efficiently and accurately including signatures as needed to result in a clean claim. Maintain accurate records of daily co-payments collected and deposited.  Assist with prescription refill process.  Scans documents into appropriate medical records. Assist with processing of referrals, prior authorizations and specialty appointments. Assist with office equipment failures.  Other duties as required.

    Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program. Maintains current AHA Basic Life Support ''C'' certification.   Ability to write and verbally communicate in English, Knowledge of a second language preferred. Minimum of 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant preferred. Minimum of 1 year administrative duties in a clinical setting preferred
