CHA Everett Hospital is a busy community hospital, offering inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital operates 112-beds and provides intensive care, telemetry, mental health, and medical-surgical services. CHA Everett Hospital has a two (2) room OR and one (1) endoscopy room. A 24-hour emergency service is also on site. Outpatient care at this campus includes surgery, orthopedics, rehabilitation, specialty care, primary care, and behavioral/mental health programs.
West 2 is a 22 bed acute Adult 19-64 y.o. behavioral health unit . the unit is dedicated to providing exceptional care to people in our community with mental health and substance abuse illness. We established a philosophy of caring for patients who need mental health services with kindness, respect and dignity, while we provide them with a supportive environment and treatment to help them heal. Our program is dedicated to depression, bipolar disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, substance abuse and psychotic diagnoses. We provide Electroconvulsive Therapy ( ECT ) Our primary objective : we work to help our patients get better so they can live better lives.
The role of a Psych RN is to provide quality patient care according to Cambridge Health Alliance standards of nursing practice and the role expectations of the patient care unit, including administration of medications and treatments. RN must demonstrate ability to respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies in a prompt, precise and professional manner and be able to work in collaboration with nurse manager to provide comprehensive, cost effective care and to support a problem solving approach to issues. Assess, plan, document and evaluate patient care in an adult locked psychiatric unit. Participates in quality improvement projects. Administers medications and treatments as needed. Acts as a resource for nursing issues and keeps abreast of all aspects of assigned patient care. Contributes to multidisciplinary treatment planning by bringing a nursing focus to team collaboration and contributing to multidisciplinary treatment planning. Communicates effectively with health team members. Interacts effectively with patients, families and significant others. Reports directly to Nurse Manager and will be assigned according to the needs of the unit.
Qualifications/Experience: Current MA RN Licensure required. BSN required for newly hired nurses. Current BLS required. 1 year previous mental health experience in a locked unit. Newly hired candidate is required to successfully complete a job specific physical agility test.
