  • Job Purpose
    The primary purpose of the Perinatal Scrub Technologist (PST) is to provide quality patient care according to Cambridge Health Alliance, the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses standards of nursing practice and the PST role expectations.  The primary role of the PST  is to assist the surgical provider and circulating nurse through preparation and assistance with surgical procedures.  The PST prepares surgical equipment, provides equipment to surgeons during surgery, maintains the integrity of the sterile environment within the operating room and completes other tasks as appropriate. The PST is proactive in anticipating the needs of the unit by working collaboratively with all members of the team and maintaining situational awareness at all times through ongoing communication with the L&D charge nurse. As an integral member of the Maternal Newborn Services team, the PST is responsible to be available to assist the other members of the team to ensure seamless flow and safe patient care. 

    Qualifications/Requirements

    Education/Training: High School Diploma or equivalent
    Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program for new hires
    Successful completion of Periop 101 during CHA orientation

    Certifications:BLS certification 
    CST certification required within one year for current or new hires (if qualified to sit for the exam)

    Work Experience:Minimum 2 years current surgical technologist experience for new hires
