Purchasing is a critical part of the Supply Chain team focused on the procurement of supplies, equipment, and services for the organization.

Job Duties:

  • Place orders, as required, for supplies, services and repairs
  • Prepare requests to obtain price quotations per dept. guidelines.
  • Is a resource to departments with regard to supply, equipment and service needs.
  • Sets up and maintains MM Item Dictionary.
  • Access on-line tools to assist in procurement such as e-commerce, databases and GPO websites.
  • Resolves invoice discrepancies and processes returns.
  • Maintains department records, files, reports and information as required.
  • Maintains work area and equipment as required
  • Locates and contacts sources of supply for various departments.
  • Prepares specifications, negotiates with suppliers, and obtains quotations.
  • Attends staff meetings as required and participates on committees as requested.
  • Communicates effectively and works as part of a team.
  • Displays ability to get along with co-workers, other departments and the public.
  • Adjusts to new, different or urgent work situations.
  • Observes and promotes hospital policies.
  • Maintains high level of confidentially at all times.
  • Assures timely completion of assignments and proper coverage of areas of responsibility during time off.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma is required. Associates degree is preferred.
  • Five (5) Years experience in a Purchasing department with progressive responsibility is preferred. Experience with Medical / Surgical supplies, equipment and contracts is preferred. Knowledge of Meditech software system, Microsoft Word and Excel is desirable.
  • Must be physically able to perform duties, which may require sitting, walking, climbing and periodically lifting.
  • Ability to calculate, solve complex problems, and work independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment, prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • There may be some travel between facilities.

Position will be located at 100 Cummings Park in Woburn
