Job Details
The CAU (Child Assessment Unit) is a 13 bed secure psychiatric unit providing care for children between the ages of 3 and 12. The unit is located in the Cambridge Hospital. A multi-disciplinary approach is used to provide patient and family centered care. A continued emphasis on restraint reduction is ongoing and treatment focus is on assessment, stabilization, and after care treatment planning. The average length of stay is 7 days.
The Clinical Leader knows and understands the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of Nursing Service and provides for their implementation Clinical Leader plans, administers and supervises nursing and related services with the geriatric psychiatric staff. Conforms behavior and actions to the expectations of the Service Excellence Program by exhibiting excellent customer relations skills to patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.
Qualifications/Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current MA RN Licensure required
BSN degree required
American Heart Association BLS required
Psych Mental Health Certification preferred or within one year from date of hire
Minimum 5 years experience in a related field with a minimum two years charge experience preferred
Evidence of progressive leadership
Newly hired candidates are required to successfully complete a job specific physical agility test
Knowledge of DMH policies and procedures regarding human rights and restraints
