The outpatient services of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Cambridge Health Alliance is seeking an LICSW for a part-time position providing psychotherapy to youth and families in our outpatient clinic at the Cambridge Hospital campus.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
Ability to co-create a patient-centered treatment plan with involvement from youth and their caregivers.
Develop rapport with diverse children and adolescents having mental and/or substance use disorders.
Assess children and adolescents for DSM-5 disorders utilizing an understanding of normal child and adolescent development and a strengths-based parenting/family assessment model.
Skill and prior experience in making triage decisions, in assessing risk (including suicidality, aggression, abuse and neglect), and in applying the diagnostic classification accurately.
Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing a strengths-based approach with emphasis on improving function within a developmental context using a full range of appropriate treatment modalities (such as crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, family-based therapy, supportive therapy, and/or behavior therapy).
Provide clinical care to patients commonly seen in primary care and specialty mental health settings with mood or anxiety disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, adjustment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use, psychotic disorders, social skills deficits and developmental delays, and family system conflicts associated.
Knowledge, skill and experience in at least two core areas of psychosocial treatment (e.g. psychodynamic therapy, play therapy, family-based therapy, short-term therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, problem-oriented therapy, group psychotherapy, or other evidence-based approaches), with a commitment to continuing professional growth by development of new clinical skills and mastery of additional techniques.
Social Work Licensure: Current MA licensure as LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker). LCSW (Licensed Certified Social Worker) considered with eligibility for licensure of LICSW within one year.
Certifications: Same as above. When required, must be credentialed by the CHA Medical Staff for practice in relevant clinical practice areas.
Experience with neurodevelopmental disorders, gender and sexuality concerns, and first episode psychosis strongly preferred
