  • Job Duties:

    1. Provide comprehensive clinical education and advocacy for both youth and adults. Performs all aspects of family planning education/counseling according to the Title X and MDPH Family Planning Program standards. 2. Assists patients in exploring feelings and concerns about sexuality, pregnancy and other life style needs. Assists clients in making an informed decision by providing information, both oral and written, and helping clarify values and priorities. 3. Provides pre- and post test HIV antibody and STI counseling and testing in accordance with the HIV Program and the MDPH standards of care. 4. Links clients and providers with necessary school and community resources and agencies. 5. Maintains charts and all appropriate paperwork. 6. Coordinates the use of health education/counseling materials and medications at the site. 7. Creates a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable discussing issues that are important to them. 8. Participates in outreach activities for the program as appropriate. Develops outreach and in-reach materials to promote services. 9. Collaborates with other health educators in the department to meet educational demands in the schools and community as they arise. 10. Implements education evaluation. Develops education materials as applicable. Leads youth development programming with fidelity as applicable. 11. Participates in SRH program working groups, trainings, meetings, and racial justice initiatives. 12. Attends health center site meetings, program staff meetings, trainings, and supervision meetings as appropriate. Facilitates meetings when appropriate. 14. Submits FPERs, monthly staff reports and other requested data, in a consistent and timely manner. 15. Provide coverage at clinical and education sites as indicated. 16. Maintains competencies in the field of sexual and reproductive health. 17. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

    Qualifications and required experience: Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, though relevant experience is valued highly Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese required for this position 2 years of related experience required Knowledge of and/or experience with sexual health strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with people of different races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ages, abilities, and experiences. Commitment to addressing the impact of racism and other oppressions on sexual and reproductive health.
