Job Details
In partnership with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts we will be expanding inpatient psychiatric care in the region, by adding 42 new child, adolescent and specialized autism spectrum/neurodevelopmental beds at our Somerville Campus.
The AU (Adolescent Unit) is a 21 bed secure psychiatric unit that provides care for children between the ages of 13 and 18. The unit is located at our CHA Somerville Campus. This is an acute care unit, working on stabilization and after care treatment planning. We have a multidisciplinary team focused on teaching self-control, de-escalation and restraint reduction. This approach is used to provide patient and family centered care. The average length of stay is 7 days.
The CU (Child Unit) is a 24 bed secure psychiatric unit providing care for children between the ages of 3 and 12. The unit is located at our CHA Somerville Campus. A multi-disciplinary approach is used to provide patient and family centered care. A continued emphasis on restraint reduction is ongoing and treatment focus is on assessment, stabilization, and after care treatment planning. The average length of stay is 7 days.
Job Description
Responsible for nursing care for inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric services across the CHA network. Provides mechanisms for ensuring quality care, issue resolution, and nursing service staff competency. Supports development of psychiatric nursing and care coordination to achieve CHA strategic objectives. Works collaboratively with the Physician Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services. Responsible for managing nursing care through the strategic plan. In partnerships with Associate Chief Nursing Officer, represents the hospital and psychiatric nursing nursing services in all activities related to psychiatric nursing care. Works collaboratively and maintains active communication with Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Psychiatric Care, the Business Unit Leader, the Chief of Psychiatry and the Chief of child and adolescent psychiatric care
Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Current Mass. state RN license.
BSN or Bachelor's degree in related fields required.
MSN preferred
BLS certification.
Responsibility for the care of the psychiatry patients. At least 6 years of leadership experience in psychiatric nursing.
Minimum of six years' experience in psychiatric nursing with an additional two
years' experience with management responsibilities.
