We utilize EPIC for our Electronic Health Record (EHR), Pyxis technology for dispensing and have bedside bar coding implemented in all inpatient areas. All of the services we provide are performed with a focus on optimizing clinical outcomes and patient safety, increasing patient satisfaction and improving the financial sustainability of the organization.
The staff in the inpatient pharmacy department at CHA is comprised of a team of Clinical Specialists, Staff Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Interns.
Job Purpose: Under the general supervision of the Manager, Inpatient Pharmacy and the immediate supervision of the Pharmacists, and within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures, the Pharmacy Technician II performs various non-judgmental aspects of pharmaceutical care in an inpatient pharmacy setting. Primary, essential job functions involve drug packaging and compounding, drug transport, inventory management, record-keeping, drug monitoring and staff training. A commitment to patient safety, customer satisfaction, and efficient / effective use of resources, teamwork, innovation, and performance improvement is required.
Qualifications/Requirements: Education/Training: High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate is required. Licensure: None required. Work Experience: Minimum of three years experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred. Certification: Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved certifying body pharmacy technician certification examination is required. Registration: Must have a current technician registration in good standing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy or be eligible for registration in MA.
