The IT Ambulatory Applications Director oversees an extensive portfolio of a large range of systems, applications and information technology that are critical to the clinical and business needs of the CHA community. This includes EpicCare Ambulatory, ASAP (Emergency Department), Healthy Planet, MyCHArt, CareEverywhere/MassHIWay, Epic Care Link, Epic Mobile Applications (Haiku/Canto), Order Transmittal, Workflow Engine Rules, ePrescribing, as well as all related downstream systems.

The Director selects, and implements new systems through a full system life cycle to support CHA needs in the areas of Ambulatory Care, Emergency Department and Urgent Care, Mobile Applications, Interoperability, Population Health, and other related domains. Varied external applications along with a myriad of complex interfaces are part of the current portfolio; these applications may be on various platforms (example client server/web/cloud based, differing operating systems, etc.) with/without devices, including remote access requirements, could be managed internally or hosted, etc. These applications may be integrated with devices that further transmit data between other systems, and can deal with information from internal or external sources. The Director supervises enterprise level applications and custom integration solutions including major enhancements, interfaces, functions and features. S/he manages a complex production environment requiring 24 x 7 user support and uptimes on the majority of systems. This includes oversight of requirements setting, programming, system selection, testing and implementation standards to support standards and code reuse; a/he will manage the most difficult support, downtime planning, and problems. This could involve the entire cycle inclusive of RFP development through contract negotiation to implementation and into maintenance.

Qualifications/Experience:

Education/Training: BS or equivalent in Computer Science, or related field with a Masters or work towards a Masters preferred.

Certifications: Certification in at least one Epic Application

10 years of relevant IT work experience with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory/team lead/management experience, including experience with applications, change management, project management.

Significant experience working in a complex health care organization and deploying systems to meet user needs. Demonstrated project management experience required.

Proven ability as a member of a management team and able to communicate technical and security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.

Ability to work and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment.

Experience with disaster recovery planning, testing, auditing, risk analysis, business resumption planning, contingency planning; TCP/IP firewalls, VPNs and other security devices; as well as contract and vendor negotiation experience.

Experience with Epic Ambulatory applications and workflows

Position is currently remote, but Director is expected to be local to CHA clinical sites and to round on-site on a regular basis.
