DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
West 2 is a 22 bed acute care for Adults ages 19-64 on a behavioral health unit. The unit is dedicated to providing exceptional care to people in our community with mental health and substance abuse illness. We established a philosophy of caring for patients who need mental health services with kindness, respect and dignity, while we provide them with a supportive environment and treatment to help them heal. Our program is dedicated to depression, bipolar disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, substance abuse and psychotic diagnoses. Our primary objective: we work to help our patients get better so they can live better lives.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The role of a Milieu Counselor will assist with ADL'S lead or co-lead groups, perform safety checks, 1:1 meetings with patients, and will accurately chart patients B/P, TPR & weight. Notifies RN of any changes in vital signs. Accurately measures and documents patient's intake and output. Uses appropriate methods of urine and stool collection and labeling of these specimens. Assists patient's following through with ADL's (bathing, laundry, organizing room), maintaining nutritional and hydration needs, and assisting & monitoring elimination needs and other task as assigned by charge RN.
Qualifications/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required; BA, BS or MA preferred or equivalent years in human service experience.
Previous direct care experience desired, previous behavioral/psych experience.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.
Newly hired candidates are required to pass a job specific agility test.
