The Nurse Manager assumes accountability and responsibility for translating the philosophy of the hospital, and the department of nursing into effective action. The Nurse Manager works in collaboration with the Chief's of Specialty Services and Practice Manager. Responsible for the hiring and performance review of all nursing staff in Surgical Specialties. The Surgical Specialties Nurse Manager will work in collaboration with the Chiefs of the Department of Surgery Divisions and Medical Director of the Cambridge Breast Center to ensure appropriate triage and clinical needs of our patients.

The Nurse Manager is competent in the following Standards of Professional Performance articulated by the American Academy of Ambulatory Nurses: performance improvement, education, professional practice evaluation, collegiality, collaboration, ethics, research, environment, resource utilization and leadership.
Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
Licensure: RN license in the State of Massachusetts required
Certifications: Current AHA BLS required
Work Experience: 2-5 years related work experience required with a minimum of one year progressive nursing leadership experience at the unit or service line supervisor level required. Experience with Labor Management Partnership is preferred.
