Job Details

  • 1. Promotes and coordinates efficient patient flow. 2. Triages and maintains awareness of patients with acute problems (i.e., walk-ins with acute injuries, exposures, etc.). Makes appropriate preparations and alerts staff as needed. Monitors patient when MD not able to remain with the patient. Provides necessary nursing intervention. 3. Administers immunizations when required. 4. TB screening referral and follow-up. 5. Administers medications per provider instruction. 6. Performs PFT, BAT, Audiometry, Vision Screening fingersticks, phlebotomy, Drug screens, EKG's, O2 Sat, Fit Testing, etc. 7. Performs suture removal, wound care/dressings, 8. Provides patient education and teaching to promote continuity care I.E. blood and body fluid exposures. a. Coordinates follow-up instructions to ensure patient compliance with medications, diagnostic tests. b. Collaborates with Nurse Manager to coordinate and maintain patient education materials. c. Provides patient with written instructions and resource information when indicated. 9. Provides telephone or on-site clinical triage to patients regarding treatment of certain minor acute problems a. Performs telephone assessment to determine appropriate scheduling. 10. Organizes follow-up activities, (delegating to appropriate staff where possible), e.g., informing patients of lab test results, review of abnormal labs with MD, arranging for refills of prescriptions, booking specialty appointments. a. Reviews phone messages for providers and triages calls, determines if call should go to provider and gathers information provider will need. b. Chart review and prepares for provider. 11. Triages and coordinates communications from ED, other clinicians, department or health centers. 12. Supervises the scheduling of patients for diagnostic procedures as ordered by the provider and instructs the patient in the preparation of the procedure1.     Qualifications/Requirements
    Education/Training: A graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Newly hired RNs are required to have a BSN within 1 year of hire. BSN Preferred.
    Licensure: MA. RN Licensure required
    Certifications: Maintains current AHA BLS. COHN or COHN qualified.
    Work Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of Occupational Health experience.
    Linguistic Capabilities: Knowledge of a second language preferred.
