Job Purpose: 1. Monitors operation of equipment to assure proper function and makes minor modification adjustments or repairs. Performs cleaning, routine maintenance, inspection of polysomnography equipment 2. Communicates effectively and works as part of a team. Displays an ability to get along with co-workers, other departments patients and family members. 3. Observes and promotes hospital policies, follows prescribed safety rules and regulations. Participates in assigned committees. Reports all observed unusual conditions of patients and equipment to proper super-vision or physician. 4. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of department records and reports. Maintains quality assurance and quality control data. 5. Performs studies in accordance with AASM Guidelines and CHA Procedure and Protocols. 6. Follow procedural protocols [such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc.] to ensure collection of appropriate data. 7. Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identify, correct and document artifact. 8. Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results. 9. Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.). 10. Scoring competency required.
Qualification/Requirements: Education and/or Experience Successful completion of an accredited Sleep Technology Program. One of the following credentials is required: Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential. Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support Certification from AHA.
Previous Experience: One year polysomnography experience with pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
Mental: 1. Cognitive ability to observe, analyze and interpret general and technical data, (verbal and written accurately). 2. Mathematical, reading and writing ability required. 3. Possesses communication and interpersonal relationship skills, with the ability to respond to events effectively. 4. Ability to effectively prioritize completing responsibilities under emergent situations.
