DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The CHA Eye Center is located in the Highland Building at Somerville Hospital. Our thriving practice helps patients with a wide range of eye conditions and includes a full optical shop for prescriptions and contact lens fittings. This gives patients everything they need in one location, from routine exams to advanced treatments. We see patients of all ages - from infants to older adults. Our specialty eye care services include: diabetic eye care, treatment of glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other eye diseases, cataract surgery, refractive surgery, LASIK and corneal transplants.
Job Purpose: Meet and greet patients and ensure accurate and timely department communication and the presentation of the department in a positive manner. Answering numerous telephone calls. Schedule new and follow up appointments and coordinates schedules for department personnel in EPIC, schedules a variety of tests as required and routes to appropriate source with the goal of promoting appropriate medical care and follow up. Registers daily patient visits and performs administrative duties necessary to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursement for services. Performs general secretarial duties in preparation of departmental correspondence and records. Collects copays and checks insurance information. Responsible for creating a respectful environment for our patients.
Qualifications/Requirements: High School Diploma. Associates Degree Preferred. 1-3 years as secretary or other related administrative or office position. Experience with computer applications. Bilingual preferred
