  • The Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Department located at 26 Central Street in Somerville is a full-service specialty psychiatry clinic, providing both a range of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology treatments. This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary mix of talented clinicians, affiliated with a Harvard Medical School teaching institution, working in a system committed to caring for minorities and other disadvantaged patients presenting with a cross section of Mental Illness.

    Job Purpose: Provides evaluation and treatment for assigned caseload of patients providing a range of psychosocial care. The patients' care is client-focused and goal oriented with a focus on improving or restoring the patient's functional level.

    Specific duties shall include (but are not limited to):

    Performing clinical assessments and evaluations in the office.

    Demonstrated expertise in a variety of clinical modalities.

    Plans, implements and revises treatment in consultation with multidisciplinary teams and with community agencies as appropriate.

    Provides specialty clinical consultation to primary care providers, community agencies, and families regarding individual patients and in collaboration with primary care teams.

    Assesses patients and prescribes medications according to established practice guidelines.

    Completes patient chart documentation as required by all pertinent governing bodies in a timely manner.

    Collaborates with the medical director in the coordination and provision of psychopharmacologic treatments.

    Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner.

    Demonstrates expertise in nonviolent crisis prevention and management.

    All responsibilities of the CNS will be consistent with the scopes of practice acts governing health care in the state of Massachusetts.


    MSN credentialed as an advanced practice clinician in Psychiatry

    Current Massachusetts licensure authorizing practice in an expanded role as a Psychiatric Nurse Clinical Specialist; eligible to prescribe. MA. RN Licensure required

    American Heart Association BLS certification

    3-5 yrs. prescribing in a psychiatric setting required
