The role of a RN is to provide quality patient care according to Cambridge Health Alliance standards of nursing practice and the role expectations of the patient care unit, including administration of medications and treatments. RN must demonstrate ability to respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies in a prompt, precise and professional manner and be able to work in collaboration with nurse manager to provide comprehensive, cost effective care and to support a problem solving approach to issues. Assess, plan, document and evaluate patient care. Participates in quality improvement projects. Administers medications and treatments as needed. Acts as a resource for nursing issues and keeps abreast of all aspects of assigned patient care. Contributes to multidisciplinary treatment planning by bringing a nursing focus to team collaboration and contributing to multidisciplinary treatment planning. Communicates effectively with health team members. Interacts effectively with patients, families and significant others.
Strong problem solving skills. IV Therapy RN must be able to insert and maintain all peripheral IVs. Must draw blood from TLC's. Must also be able to maintain central access & ports. Will respond to all code blues and rapid responses. Will perform daily rounds of patients with IV lines.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current MA RN Licensure.
All newly hired RN candidates must have a BSN degree or within one year from date of hire.
Current American Heart Association BLS certifications required.
Must have at least 3 years of recent nursing experience that includes, but is not limited to direct patient care, physical assessment and patient education.
Minimum of 3 years (recent/current) IV therapy team experience required.
Certification in Midline/PICC insertion strongly preferred.
Must be proficient in Peripheral IV insertion. Central line maintenance and management required.
Certification in IV Therapy (CRNI) preferred.
