  • The Public Health Nurse (PHN) protects and promotes the health of the Cambridge community by integrating professional nursing, public health and social science principals and practices.

    Job Purpose: Tuberculosis Control Accountable for the clinical nursing care of patients enrolled at the Schipellite Chest Clinic. Provides thorough, community-based case management of active TB cases (for Cambridge residents), ensuring effective and complete treatment. Completes home visits for directly observed therapy for active TB cases. Communicates with other health providers as needed. Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Investigates communicable diseases reportable to the City of Cambridge; coordinates and communicates with providers, agencies and the community. Provides vaccination and outbreak control measures as needed and required by MDPH. Completes online MDPH electronic case report forms on reportable diseases Health Promotion Provides broad array of health promotion and disease prevention services to City of Cambridge residents, especially seniors, homeless, and vulnerable populations as specified in the PHN Competencies.

    Qualifications/Requirements: Minimum two years experience in communicable disease, infection control, and/or tuberculosis care required and or ambulatory care. BSN. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts required. AHA BLS certification required.
