Department Description

The Cardiovascular Department at Cambridge Health Alliance provides a full range of tests to evaluate the health of a patient's heart and blood vessels. As an Echocardiography Accredited Facility, the lab utilizes state-of-the-art equipment for services including Echocardiograms, Electrocardiograms (EKG), various stress tests, and vascular testing. The lab also offers Holter and Cardiac event monitors and runs a device clinic for in-person and remote checks on pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders. These services are available at two locations, Cambridge Hospital and Everett Hospital.

Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cardiac Sonographer to join our cardiovascular diagnostic team. In this role, you will perform a broad spectrum of non-invasive cardiovascular tests to capture high-quality clinical data and live imaging, supporting our medical specialists in accurate patient diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnostic Testing: Perform a wide range of non-invasive cardiovascular procedures following established protocols, including: 

2D cardiovascular imaging, color flow, spectral display, and continuous/pulsed wave Doppler

Exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms, harmonics, and contrast imaging.

Holter monitor scanning and analysis.

Preliminary Reporting: Evaluate data collection quality and compile comprehensive preliminary reports for physician interpretation.

Critical Finding Alerts: Promptly identify anatomical or life-threatening abnormalities, immediately notifying the ordering physician or nursing unit and documenting notifications per Quality Improvement standards.

Emergency & Patient Care Response: Exercise sound judgment in urgent patient situations, calling for assistance and initiating necessary emergency measures when required.

Documentation & Coordination: Utilize computerized database systems to accurately log hospital charges, generate diagnostic reports, and serve as a liaison with physicians and clinical staff to expedite results.

Cross-Functional Support: Perform additional cross-trained modalities and related departmental duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements 

Education/Training: Accredited Allied Health Program, ARDMS registry eligible 

Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS Healthcare Provider 

Work Experience: Previous clinical background required
