Department Description
The Repairs and Maintenance department at Cambridge Health Alliance is dedicated to ensuring a safe, comfortable, and fully functional environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. Our skilled team is responsible for the upkeep and repair of all hospital facilities and equipment, from plumbing and electrical systems to HVAC and structural maintenance. We are committed to responding promptly to all needs and proactively maintaining our physical infrastructure to support the highest standards of care and operational excellence throughout the hospital.
Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Director of Plant Operations, or their designee, performs general maintenance for all systems and equipment within the hospital.
Licensure: Commonwealth of Massachusetts 2nd class team fireman license preference or relevant experience.
Certifications: EPA Section 608 Refrigeration Certification preferred.
Correctly completes preventive and corrective maintenance work requests in a timely manner.
Reads, interprets, and follows NFPA codes, TJC accreditation requirements, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Health Department licensure regulations, Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Electrical Codes and EPA regulations
Monitoring and troubleshooting of assigned equipment and devices using test equipment, technical manuals, control drawings, electrical schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
General maintenance duties include replacing ceiling tiles, performing minor carpentry for repairing of holes, painting of small areas, applying fire stopping materials, floor tile replacement, minor furniture repairs, and minor roofing repairs.
Observe outside contracting work and communicate code violations or concerns to the supervisor.
Periodically tours the boiler room checking boiler steam pressure and water level.
Performs basic electrical duties such as replacing nurse call cords and replacing light bulbs.
Performs basic plumbing duties such as fixing leaking faucets and clogged toilets.
Performs mechanical duties such as minting and inspecting machines devices and equipment for defects.
Check all lighting in and around the hospital buildings.
Performs minor carpentry such as adjusting doors, closers, and installing shelving.
May need to drive hospital trucks for pickup of equipment and supplies as requested.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Equivalent to 4 years of high school vocational training or equivalent experience.
Work Experience: Three years of experience working in Plant Operations in the Healthcare industry.
