Department Description
The Cardiovascular Department at Cambridge Health Alliance provides a full range of tests to evaluate the health of a patient's heart and blood vessels. As an Echocardiography Accredited Facility, the lab utilizes state-of-the-art equipment for services including Echocardiograms, Electrocardiograms (EKG), various stress tests, and vascular testing. The lab also offers Holter and Cardiac event monitors and runs a device clinic for in-person and remote checks on pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders. These services are available at two locations, Cambridge Hospital and Everett Hospital.
Summary
Performs a broad spectrum of non-invasive cardiovascular test to provide medical specialists with data for diagnostic purposes. Performs a wide range of cardiovascular non-invasive tests according to an established protocol, in a manner that effectively promotes and supports the efficient operation of the department, including: Cardiovascular 2-D imaging, color flow, spectral display, continuous and pulsed wave Doppler, Exercise/pharmacologic stress, harmonics and contrast imaging , Holter scanning. Recognizes adequate vs inadequate data collection, and prepares preliminary report in a form presentable for physician interpretation. Recognizes abnormalities and life threatening findings and reports to physician or nursing unit as indicated. Documents notification as part of Quality Improvement activities
Requirements
Education/Training: Accredited Allied Health Program, registry eligible
Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS Healthcare Provider
Work Experience: Previous clinical background required
