CHA Perioperative Services consists of Orthopedics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastics, Podiatry, Vascular and Endoscopy and many other services.Cambridge Health Alliance's experienced Surgery team has performed thousands of procedures at some of Boston's finest teaching hospitals. Today, we have recruited highly-regarded surgeons and are able to provide state-of-the-art care in our operating rooms. The department has grown significantly adding skilled surgeons who bring specialized care to our communities. Our most recent initiatives include a minimally invasive surgery program, hepatobiliary and pancreatic program, and multidisciplinary breast center. All of our Surgeons handle routine cases as well as more complex procedures. Whenever possible, we use minimally invasive techniques to reduce the discomfort and recovery time of surgery. Many procedures can now be done on an outpatient basis with patients going home the same day. These procedures including Endoscopy are performed at Cambridge and Everett hospital and outpatient Endoscopy is performed at Somerville Hospital.
The Manager, CPD Operations and Inventory, manages the overall budgets for the Operative Services and Central Processing Departments (Capital and operating) across three campuses, and manages the surgical case cart system to include physician preference cards, charging of surgical supplies, and the equipment loaner process across three campuses.
Works closely with the Purchasing Department to ensure cost-effective and timely ordering and delivery of supplies, equipment, and services across three campuses.
The Manager, CPD Operations and Inventory will also:
• Act as a custodian of the Central Processing and Operative Services inventory (Surgical both purchased and cosigned) which consists of re-usable, disposable and patient charge supplies.
• Establish items to be kept in Central Processing inventory according to hospital administrative policies, Operative Services and Materials Management Department policies.
• Communicate with OR Managers on any issue associated with supplies that impact the surgical schedules.
• Meet periodically with Nurse Managers or designees, Service Chiefs and physicians to assess overall needs.
• Work with the Purchasing Department to compile statistical and historical data, and prepare reports on the status of inventory and supplies consumed.
• Develops and maintains instrument kit listings and updates as necessary.
• Develops and maintains back-up inventory and replaces missing instruments in kits for Operative Services.
• Recommends and develops new or revised policies and procedures to enhance overall control of the surgical case cart system and Central Processing inventory, with a special emphasis to be placed on maximizing the capture of patient charges with a minimization of time spent on charging.
• Recommends and develops expense reduction initiatives for Operative Services and the Central Processing Department.
• Participates in product evaluation and cost containment efforts.
• Develops and conducts the criteria-based performance management improvement process (PMIP) of staff.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Education/Experience:
A minimum of an Associate’s Degree (A.A.), Bachelor’s degree preferred
Certifications: Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician required
