Chair of Radiology

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is recruiting for a Chair of Radiology to join our award-winning health system based in Boston’s metro-north communities. CHA provides innovative primary, specialty and emergency care to our diverse patient population through an established network of outpatient clinics and three hospital campuses. The Chief of Pathology position is full time, based at CHA Cambridge Hospital.
The Chair leads clinical service delivery, research, and training within the Department, ensuring the highest quality, compassionate, and culturally sensitive patient care in alignment with the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) mission. The Chair models CHA values and is responsible for the Department’s overall clinical quality, academic performance, and financial/operational outcomes in collaboration with the Senior Director and CHA leadership.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Clinical and Quality Oversight: Oversee the provision of all clinical services, quality assurance, patient safety, and performance improvement programs. The role requires a minimum of 40% time dedicated to direct patient care.
- Academic Leadership: Direct all teaching, research, and academic activities, including undergraduate and graduate medical education, curriculum development, and provider mentorship.
- Administration and Finance: Jointly manage the departmental budget, set financial goals, assess and allocate resources, and develop strategic plans for growth and improved departmental operations and ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS)
- Personnel Management: Oversee the recruitment, credentialing, orientation, and professional development of providers. Ensure annual performance evaluations and address performance/behavioral issues as needed.
- Institutional Leadership: Actively participate in CHA leadership, including strategic planning, Chiefs Council, and the Medical Executive Committee, contributing to organizational priorities.
Position carries a Harvard Medical School (HMS) appointment of Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with HMS appointment criteria, candidate qualifications and commitment to teaching responsibilities. Academic rank will be determined based on credentials and experience.
Compensation includes a guaranteed base salary of $500,000 - $600,000 plus incentives.
Qualifications:
- Board Certification in Radiology
- License to practice medicine in the state of Massachusetts (or ability to obtain)
- 5+ years of clinical experience with progressive leadership experience in multi-site hospital/health system
- Proven ability in recruitment, professional development, mentoring, medical education program development, practice management, clinical operations, and conflict resolution.
- Experience fostering medical school education and supporting academic and educational activities at the department level.
- Exceptional clinical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Dedication to ensuring culturally and linguistically appropriate care
