Community Orthopaedic Trauma and Arthroplasty Fellow

Requisition Number: CHAP-2450-3

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is pleased to offer a one-year Community Orthopaedic Trauma and Arthroplasty Fellowship within a Harvard-affiliated Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, designed for a PGY5 or PGY6 seeking advanced, high-volume clinical experience in a dynamic community hospital setting.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Clinical responsibilities will encompass the full spectrum of adult musculoskeletal trauma and reconstruction
  • Emphasis on complex periarticular fractures, periprosthetic injuries and fracture-related arthroplasty, as well as primary and revision total joint replacement for both post-traumatic and degenerative arthritis indications
  • The fellow will develop mastery across the complete range of modern arthroplasty techniques — including robotic-assisted surgery using the Mako robotic platform — and will be immersed in a technology-forward department that integrates cutting-edge adjuncts such as advanced imaging, computer navigation, and data-driven outcomes tools into everyday surgical practice.
  • The fellow will function as an integral member of the surgical team alongside experienced, fellowship-trained attending surgeons, gaining exceptional operative volume and case complexity that bridges the traditionally separate disciplines of orthopaedic trauma and adult reconstruction.
  • Opportunities for clinical research, quality improvement, and participation in regional and national academic meetings are actively supported.

Qualifications:

  • Our program is ideally suited for a motivated orthopaedic resident or fellow.
  • Candidates will thrive in a collegial, high-acuity community environment that prizes surgical innovation, embraces emerging technology, and is committed to delivering state-of-the-art, patient-centered care.
  • License to practice medicine in the state of Massachusetts (or ability to obtain)
  • Exceptional clinical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Dedication to ensuring culturally and linguistically appropriate care

Benefits and Compensation:

  • This position offers highly competitive compensation commensurate with experience, a comprehensive benefits package, and significant potential for conversion to a full-time attending position for the right candidate.
  • Salary for this position is $135,000.
