 Job Purpose

Clinical social workers within the Emergency Department are vital members of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. The social worker in the Emergency Department works closely with nurses, physician assistants, and physicians in a fast-paced, high stress environment. The social worker completes psychiatric assessments, provides crisis counseling, and implements treatment planning for patients in the Emergency Department. The social worker identifies appropriate resources and obtains collateral information as needed by patients and family members undergoing evaluation in the Emergency Department. The diversity of the client population served in addition to the treatment modalities utilized requires interdisciplinary expertise and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • MSW required
  • Current MA licensure asLICSW, or LCSW with eligibility for licensure of LICSW within 2 years. When required, must be credentialed by the CHA Medical Staff for practice in relevant clinical practice areas.

Work Experience:

  •  Minimum of two years post masters degree experience with acute psychiatric population preferred.
  • All newly hired candidates must successfully complete a job specific physical agility test.
