Summary:

Cambridge Health Alliance, a well-respected, nationally recognized and award-winning public healthcare system is seeking a full-time Director of Outpatient Psychiatry Operations. The CHA Outpatient Psychiatry Department is a state-designated community behavioral health center and is a growing service in need of an experienced, energetic, effective leader and change agent to oversee 2 large psychiatric outpatient clinics, 2 urgent behavioral health care services, multiple behavioral health/primary care integration and school-based behavioral health care sites. These clinics have a combined total of over 100,000 patient visits annually. The Director will lead an administrative team of 46 staff and partner with the Department of Psychiatry leadership team in strategic planning and optimizing systems and processes to support the provision of accessible and effective behavioral health services.

Under the direction of the senior director, the director is the key operational partner in the department of psychiatry for the behavioral health outpatient operations. This position provides administrative oversight for multiple sites. As a state-designated Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC), the director will support outpatient operations under the concrete contractual and performance requirements of the CBHC designation. This model supports externally facing community-based services in addition to the specialty medical care. In addition, this position oversees the functions of Central Intake (behavioral health referrals) and the support provided to primary care integration services. The director will also collaborate with clinical leaders in service and program modification and/or optimization processes such as those related to the flow of patients from behavioral health urgent care and primary care.

The director will take part in CBHC and department strategic planning and set formal goals on an annual basis for operational staff and functions. The annual planning process will include reassessment of key metrics (i.e., quality, waiver and CBHC), volumes, staffing, staff engagement and patient satisfaction. Other key oversight functions include patient access, scheduling and template slot utilization.

The director will create and oversee a functional leadership team in operations so that the provision of behavioral health services is effective and successful. Operations must perform appropriately to meet CBHC, waiver and ACO commitments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years management experience in outpatient care operations.
  • Demonstrated analytical, structural, project management and quantitative skills.
  • Capacity to lead and manage a diverse, multi-lingual, multi-cultural staff.
  • Experience managing staff and fiscal operations.
