DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The CHA Cardio-vascular department, under the direction of the Cardiology Medical Director and Network Cardiovascular Manager provides a variety of diagnostic testing services, including Stress Tests, Cardiac ultrasound, vascular testing, event and holter monitors.   

Summary:
• Performs or assists with a variety of cardiac diagnostic tests including stress testing, EKG’s, and holter monitors.
• Has an understanding of basic EKG rhythms.
• Performs miscellaneous clerical duties as required, including front desk, scheduling and phones.
• Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills with patients, staff, and physicians in order to provide a positive and safe environment for testing

Responsibilities:
• Assists RN or physician in performing cardiac stress tests including: exercise stress tests, stress echocardiograms, and perfusion stress tests (walking and chemical)
• Contacts patients to confirm appointments and provides them with preparation instructions for stress testing.
• Prepares patient paperwork prior to testing and ensures proper order, diagnosis, and all documentation is obtained prior to procedure.
• Reviews lab results.
• Prepares the patient per established protocols.
• While the stress test is in progress, helps to monitor the patient.
• Understands complications or changes in patient’s baseline that would prompt termination of testing.
• Monitors patient during recovery
• Completes inpatient and outpatient EKG’s. Has knowledge of MUSE including order reconciliation and provider inboxes.
Holter monitors:
• Responsible hooking up Holter monitors; uses proper lead placement and skin prep to ensure there is comprehensive data collected. Communicates instructions clearly to the patient.
• Scans finalized Holter monitor report into EMR
• During downtime, assists in other areas of the department; i.e., front desk, scheduling, and answering phones.

   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

LPN or BS/ MS in exercise physiology preferred.
BLS required. ACLS certification preferred.
CCT required within 3 months of hire.
ACSM Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) preferred.
