Department Summary
West 2 is a 22 bed acute care for Adult Psych/Behavioral Health patients ages 19-55 on a behavioral health unit. The unit is dedicated to providing exceptional care to people in our community with mental health and substance abuse illness. We established a philosophy of caring for patients who need mental health services with kindness, respect and dignity, while we provide them with a supportive environment and treatment to help them heal. Our program is dedicated to depression, bipolar disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, substance abuse and psychotic diagnoses. 

Summary
The role of a Psych RN is to provide quality patient care according to Cambridge Health Alliance standards of nursing practice. The RN must demonstrate ability to respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies in a prompt, precise and professional manner, and be able to work in collaboration with the nurse manager, to provide comprehensive, cost effective care and to support a problem solving approach to issues. The RN assesses, plans, documents and evaluates patient care in an adult locked psychiatric unit. The RN contributes to multidisciplinary treatment and planning by bringing a nursing focus to team collaboration. The RN reports directly to the Nurse Manager and will be assigned according to the needs of the unit.

Qualifications/Experience

Current MA RN Licensure required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.

1 year previous mental health experience in a locked unit strongly preferred.

All newly hired candidates must successfully complete a job specific physical agility test.
